As you know, we’ve been taking a look at Only Natural Pet products this month. This week, we were asked to review a product from their very extensive product line.

Last week, we talked about Going Green with our pets. This week, we’re talking about the Only Natural Pet Probiotics available at Pet360.
Brock and Bree are the highest maintenance dogs we’ve ever had in our lives. While Cheiss is content to grow old with grace and good health, Brock and Bree are the ones with a vast selection of health problems – most of which are due to being abandoned on a doorstep in the middle of winter at only a day old, being naturally lactose intolerant and allergic to puppy formula while we were bottle-feeding them, and I’m sure at least a little in-breeding on the part of the previous owners. These things have resulted in challenges as they grow to adulthood.

Nevertheless, thanks to a very high-quality diet and regular checkups, we have seen them grow into wonderful, healthy animals. With just a few quirks… So we were quite pleased when we had the chance to try out the new Probiotic Blend from Only Natural Pet through Pet360’s new online store.

Pet PawNatural Products and Living a Greener Lifestyle

While I like to think of myself as “active”, the truth is – I’m really not. Active to me means going out for a weekend hike with the dogs, or teaching my cats agility, or committing to an evening walk. It’s not a lot, but it’s something. But, I wanted to do more – and I wanted to make a difference while I do it.

So this year, I incorporated something a little easier: a green lifestyle and (mostly) sustainable living for my family and my pets.

If you look up “going green”, you’ll see it is a term rife with trendy words and consumer messages that mean very little. I adapted a “baby steps” approach and defined the term on my own.

Fighting Mosquitoes Naturally

There isn’t one single positive thing I can say about mosquitoes other than they make good bat food. Other than that, I literally can’t think of a single thing they are good for and I really don’t know why they were invented. There are over 3,500 forms of mosquitoes and they all suck (literally and figuratively).

Even scientists, who have been studying these pesky insects for years, say they “would rather they were wiped off the earth.” (Nature.com, 2006)

Until they are, we have to deal with them carrying horrible diseases like Malaria, dengue fever, Rift Valley Fever, and even yellow fever. We also have to worry about our pets and livestock being infected with heartworm and West Nile Virus.

So, besides keeping pets on a heartworm schedule, keeping them out of the way of fogging, and planting these Plants that Naturally Repel Fleas and Ticks, we have to protect our pets without exposing them or ourselves to toxic chemicals that are found in most “bug sprays.” Not an easy task, but we do have a few natural solutions you should check out.

Those who love animals, generally love the great outdoors. Living an active lifestyle is part of owning a pet, because our pets need to remain as active as we do. We enjoy nutritious, natural food and seek out companies who are able to provide items that are natural, nutritious and made in the USA.

That’s one of the things we like most about Only Natural Pet Store.  Like those in Boulder, residents in our neck of the woods (Arizona) are also blessed with temperate conditions for most of the year. This allows us to spend a lot of time outdoors with our pets. This quality of life is reflected in the high quality of products they choose to carry at Only Natural Pets.

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Alyse Stark, Store Manager at Only Natural Pet in Boulder, Colorado. As an Only Natural Pet Nutrition Consultant, she is committed to helping you find the right natural pet food.

All-Natural Treats You Can Feel Good About

As a newbie pet owner way back in the day, I didn’t pay one stick of attention to the nutritional quality of the food I gave my pets. I loved them dearly, but I let the commercials of happy pets with lustrous coats dupe me into thinking those products were healthy. As I became more aware of the food I was putting into my own body over the years, it naturally followed that I started making better choices for my pets too.

Sure, most of the healthy pet treats are generally pricier than the alternatives offered by the usual major brands, but the extra money you spend now will lengthen their lives and keep your vet costs down. Take a few moments with me to see the differences between the low-cost “junk food” treats and the high-quality treats. When you’re done reading, I think you’ll be running to toss those bags of crunchy “treats” in the trash as fast you can!

Here’s a sampling of the usually long list of ingredients you might find in standard, and highly marketed, pet treats:
