We have pets and you live in the desert, there is really no escaping fur and dust. Even if we clean every day (and who’s got time for that nonsense?), we’re still going to have fur and dust floating around in the house.

I don’t clean every day, but I do clean every few days or this place would be out of control. That’s why I want technology to be as effective as possible. So today, we’re taking a look at the "sharpest tools in the cleaning shed" - items that will make your life a lot easier and help keep your home fur-free.

If you're anything like me, you are constantly fighting the battle of a clean home. This is especially true after the holidays, when pine needles have been tracked around the house, dogs and cats are petted and brushed almost constantly, and mud is being tracked indoors on a regular basis. I hate carpet, and yet our entire house has wal-to-wall carpet flooring.

This is why finding a good vacuum is so important to me. We can burn through a vacuum inside of a few weeks, so we love finding the ones that have staying power.

The Eureka Ultimate Clean Pet Upright Vacuum Cleaner is one that we'll be keeping around for a good, long time. There is a lot to love in this power package!

Winter is coming and that means that here in the Southwest, we’re all going to start leaving windows open all day and turning off that expensive air conditioning. In the East, you’re going to start closing windows up and turning on the heat. All of this equates to dust and fur throughout the house - no matter where you live.

Well, we just found a product that’s going to make your lives a lot easier: The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser® vacuum.

The life of a vacuum is not an easy one here in the Southwest. Shedding season is all year long in our multi-pet home and we have a lot of carpet. This means we burn through vacuum cleaners that can’t keep up with the workload.

The BISSELL® Pet Hair Eraser® is developed from the ground up by pet parents for pet parents, which means they know what they’re doing when it comes to fur.

Wellness Pet Mats for Pets and People

We recently got a Wellness Pet Mat in for review and I’m in love with it. The cats actively seek it out to sleep on, the dogs walk out of their way to stand on it, and Cheiss is finding it to be a huge assist for his old bones to stand on it while he eats and sleep on it at night. This is something that should be in every veterinary office to help senior pets find traction on tables and just have a nice place to lay down.

What is a wellness mat? If you’ve ever attended a trade show, you have probably walked on a booths’ ultra-padded carpet and felt an immediate sense of relief. The Pet Wellness Mat is about 100 times better - ultra-padded wellness pet mat is a low-profile, therapeutically cushioned surface that evenly distributes weight for better joint health, while contouring the body to offer more support and prevent pressure sores and calluses.

Honestly, if I could afford to have this flooring throughout my entire home, I would absolutely do it. To see why I’m so enamored, you need only step onto the mat - it sells itself.

How Daylight Saving Time Impacts Your Pets

What harm can an hour do to our pets? Well, for starters, an hour is like 7 hours, so that's the first problem (I'm kidding). The truth is, we don't really know how dogs and cats view time. What is clear is that our pets are deeply entrenched in our own lives and an hour change in time (forward or backward) can most definitely effect their behavior and feelings towards us.

Just like us, dogs and cats have their own "internal clock" that tells them when to eat, sleep, hunt, play, and more. It's known as the circadian rhythm and it activates itself through natural sunlight.

When we add or subtract an hour of sunlight, it can absolutely impact our pets.

If you have any type of routine to your week, your pets do as well. If you suddenly ask them to go potty at a time of day that isn't in their traditional schedule, they may be unable to go at that moment. Worse, they may soil their kennel or leave a welcome gift in your home because (in their minds), you're an hour late getting back home.
