Stick-n-Find: GPS Trackers for Everything

Share

I lose everything. Seriously. I lose pens, phones, and keys. I lose my car in mall parking lots at least half a dozen times a month, wandering around searching through aisle after aisle of vehicles in the summer heat. It’s not because I’m an idiot, it’s because I have a hard time focusing on one thing long enough to recall where I set something down. It’s probably a really good thing that I never had kids, because I can totally imagine myself setting them down on a store counter, seeing something shiny, and completely forgetting that I ever had kids.

So, I was completely excited about the new Stick-N-Find Bluetooth Location Tracker when it arrived for review. This is a small sticker that utilizes Bluetooth technology to locate your missing item. Or pet. Or kid. Or car.

It comes in a package of two stickers and it can be used on iPhone, iPad, iPad Touch, and Android devices – it only needs a Bluetooth to connect. Download the app, name the sticker and what it’s on, and you’re off and running.

Once you place the sticker on your item that you lose (it’s only about the size of a quarter), you can begin tracking it within 150 yards. The app will seek out the item and tell you if you’re getting closer or further away, which direction you need to go, and when you’ve come up on it. In addition, it lights up and makes a buzzing sound so you know you’re close and can go to the exact spot.

We did have a few issues while reviewing, and we do think there are still a few quirks that need to be worked out. For example, we had an issue in our phone picking up the signal when we were too close to the tracker. But, as I do have a tendency to be slightly technologically-challenged, it could have been due to the way I connected it. When we attempted to track the item by starting a fair distance away (then honing in on the object),  it seemed to work well.

In all, I think they still have a few issues to work on, but we also believe that they are going to be a huge boon to the pet industry (and every industry) once these kinks are ironed out. The buttons are very lightweight (even your small dog or cat can carry them). They work great on keys and purses, and if you’re headed to Disneyland any time soon, I would absolutely put one on your purse and your kids!

Now, how can I see this being used in the pet industry? Here are just a few ideas:

  • Placing it on your cats collar – you know how they magically disappear when you have to take them to the vet and there is no possible way you’ll find them? This will find them…
  • Placing it on your dogs collar – great for the cool evenings when your dog is supposed to come in, but has decided that he would rather be chasing rabbits or barking into the night. This will lead you right to him!
  • Putting it on your ferret’s harness when he is out and begins hiding all of your items.
  • Putting it on a clip around your pet hawk who you take hawking. (we don’t really know if this would work, but it sounds cool)
  • Putting it on your husky’s dog tag so when he jumps the fence, you can track him down.

Other uses that we have found:

  • Finding a car in mall parking lots (perfect for holiday shopping)
  • Taking your kids to a theme park like Disneyland (or the mall) and finding them when they turn a corner (put it on their backpack or wrist band for extra security)
  • Luggage tracking – find out when it’s coming down the belt.
  • Finding your keys or purse or backpack.
  • Locating “very important items” that you put in a “special” place so you wouldn’t lose it, then lost it.
