We’re always on the hunt for new dog and cat treat recipes. These delicious pumpkin flavored pretzels are a must-make for the Fall holidays.

Tip: If your dog is sensitive to rice flour, you can use wheat or white flour. There are also other types of flour, such as tapioca and potato flours!

Ingredients

1 package active dry yeast
1 C warm water
1 T honey
4 C rice flour
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup plain canned pumpkin (we recommend using Fruitables Pumpkin Dog Digestive Supplement with vitamin, fiber and ginger)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375º.

2. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add honey, pumpkin and enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead 6-8 minutes.

3. Pinch off about 2 Tablespoons of dough for each pretzel. Roll out into rope about 12” long and 1/2″ thick.

4. Shape into pretzel twist and place on greased baking sheet.

5. Brush with egg.

6. Bake 20 minutes. Cool. Store in an air-tight container.

NOTE: Pretzel shown in photo is not actual pretzel made in this recipe.
