PooPail Makes Waste Cleanup A Breeze

- PooPail bags are biodegradable and compostable
- Stores waste up to a week with little to no odor
- Easy to use, durable, magnetic handle keeps rake in place
We don’t often cover a lot of clean-up methods for dogs. With large dogs, we usually grab a shovel and lawn bag, clean up once every couple of days, then toss. But, we have desert landscaping with little to no lawn to worry about. Enter PooPail, which has the impact of changing our process. Here’s why…
PooPail is the brainchild of Sandy Stinson, who came up with the idea when she also had two dogs and a large backyard. She quickly grew disillusioned with the limited number of options for cleaning and decided to create her own solution.
Not only does this creation save time and give you a place to “store” waste for a few days (limiting the countless treks to the garbage cans), it keeps your yard beautiful. Next to a fully automated “dust buster”, we can’t really think of a better way to do daily yard poop cleaning.
Durable, Attractive and Easy to Use
PooPail is well designed. When we first opened it up, we noticed the quality right away. PooPail’s pail and scoop are made from a combo of Polypropylene and ABS, which is just fine for creating a long-lasting scoop and bucket. The design is sturdy, easy to use and is designed to fit just about any patio, garden or backyard area.
The entire PooPail weighs about 3 lbs, but it holds up to 10 lbs of waste.
We tried out a “standard” unit and found it to be a bit of a hassle to lean over with a shorter handle (because we’re already that spoiled). But, we were thrilled to learn that this unit is also available in a “tall” size. This makes scooping easier for those with back problems (like us) or those with limited mobility.
The standard size is perfectly acceptable for most adults who would normally “lean over to pick up poop with a doggy bag”. It’s ideal for kids if pooper-scooper is in their job description.
Without the handle, PooPail: 16″ x 12″ x 10″. The Standard scoop is 16”, and the Tall scoop is 25”. Including the handle, the Standard pail stands 20” tall, and the Tall pail is 28” high.
One note about the design – the lid doesn’t drag across the front lip of the pail, but settles there once the pail is set down at the end of each use. This helps keep the pail clean. We love that!
Environmentally Friendly
The PooPail liner bags are made from plant-based materials and are biodegradable and compostable.
This is where it gets tricky, because we haven’t actually “seen” or “tried” the bags that come with it. Because we got an early look, the bags were not available to test yet. When they are available (likely within a week), we are assured they are 100% biodegradable and fully compostable. We personally love it when companies take a stand on environmental safety!
The PooPail (made from polypropylene and ABS) is considered durable enough to last 10 years.
Keeps Smells In, Bugs Out
PooPail seals fairly well, but not enough to let gasses accumulate – just well enough to keep bugs out. This sturdy pail helps to keep odor in and bugs out! With our big dogs, it will keep (I’m estimating) about one week’s worth of waste with room to spare.
Now, just because it closes and has a special lid designed to keep water out, doesn’t mean it won’t smell at all. But, the odor of a hundred piles of waste is far worse than a compact pile of contained poop. Keep it on your patio or on the side of your house. It works fine! The bags keep the unit itself clean and are very easy to dispose of.
How to Buy
You could wait for this to be available on the market, but you’ll pay a lot more for it. PooPail anticipates this being available on Amazon, Chewy, eBay and other online vendors.
The other option is to get in early on the Kickstarter program with one of many levels. If you order now, you will have a 50% discount off retail cost. One unit will cost only $39. This includes one refill box of bags. The Tall option is also a value at $44.
Learn more about this new product on Kickstarter and get your order in early. This project is already 100% funding and gaining daily, which tells us a lot of people feel the same way about poop as we do!
