Calmz Anxiety Relief System Helps Pets Stay Calm

calmz pet vest

There’s a new option for keeping dogs calm during times of stress (particularly when there’s a thunderstorm or fireworks, or when your pets experience separation anxiety). Since it’s very new and quite effective, I wanted to let you know about it right away so you can get it ordered before the 4th of July.

Calmz is an anxiety relief system that is developed by vets for pets. It’s non-invasive, drug-free and effective; so I’m quite excited to be among the first to introduce it. This unique system uses sound, touch, and vibration to help calm pets.

Here are the details:

[heading style=”1″ color=”#006666″ style_color=”#006666″]Mesh Harness[/heading]

This is a comfortable, easily adjustable harness that fits comfortably on your pets. This is one of the softest harnesses we’ve found and it’s specially designed to prevent pets from overheating.

There are six sizes available ranging from XXS to XL. We found they run large, so work with your dog’s measurements on the girth for proper sizing. (The large fits all three of our 65 lb dogs comfortably!)

Keep in mind that these vests are not strong enough for walking your pets. They are designed to be comfortable, easily washed, and something that does not “intrude” on your pets.

[note style=”5″ icon=”yes”]We received a unit for review, but were not required to write or promote this product in any way. We only write about items that we feel are beneficial to you. When possible, we use affiliate links in our posts. Thank you for using them to support our work.[/note] [heading style=”1″ color=”#006666″ style_color=”#006666″]Massage[/heading]

The ‘tech” side of the Calmz unit is found in the small unit that fits in the back of the harness. The peripheral sensory tool gives your pets a gentle neck massage. We thought at first it may be overstimulate them, but Brock settled right into the massage without a thought.

The device has eight pre-programmed settings that allow you to manipulate the time it remains on, the intensity of the vibration, and the intensity of the music. There are 8 programs to chose from. The briefest is a 6 minute therapy with no repeat. The longest setting is 18 minutes of therapy followed by 102 minutes of rest time, repeated for an 8 hour session.

The unit fits into a small pouch that aligns with acupressure points on your pet and creates a sense of being gently massaged along the neck.

[heading style=”1″ color=”#006666″ style_color=”#006666″]Sound[/heading]

The Calmz system creates “vestibular stimulation” using audio tones that are a combination of low-frequency tuning for tones that’s combined with Beethoven’s Fur Elise. Beethoven, for those who do not know, is especially appealing to pets (according to the University of Glasgow, dogs who listen to his music exhibit fewer signs of stress).

Please rremember that no device is 100% effective. Every animal reacts differently to stress and natural remedies. This is why it’s very important to introduce your pets to products early. Acclimating your dog to this specific device can take from a few hours to a few days. You should order well before the fireworks begin (like today) and begin the process of introducing your pet to the system now.

Calmz has tested this on a lot of animals already and while not every animal benefits (nor is any product on the market effective), the Canine Anxiety Pilot Study by Dr. Chrstopher Pachel, DVM, DACVB, found that “respiratory and heart rate assessments showed greater than 10% drop in mean respiratory and heart rates after initial Calmz usage.”

CanCog Technologies, Inc discovered that “Results showed significantly reduced global anxiety responses observed in the active group compared to the control group”.

[testimonial style=”2″ company=”Arlington Texas Animal Shelter” color=”#006666 ” border_color=”#006666 “]90% of the dogs showed reduced anxiety with less shaking and cowering, with relaxed ears and a calmer stance of lying down[/testimonial]

Normally we don’t discuss items we haven’t personally tried out and put through it’s paces, but we want to bring you every tool we can to help you keep pets safe this year. We’re excited to see how this works out during fireworks (and hope you’ll also send us your experiences if you decide to purchase). We’ll be updating this piece once we’ve had the chance to test in that type of stressful environment.

Meanwhile, at only $129 for the system, we recommend you order it early and introduce your dog to it long before the fireworks begin… You can pick one up for your dogs at the main website: http://calmz.com
