Dogs Live Large at the Affinia Manhattan

Dogs attending this year’s 138th Westminster Kennel Club Dog show will be living large at the Affinia Manhattan. The newly renovated boutique hotel in New York City is ramping up a VIPaws Pet Program while it plays host to the nation’s top dogs. This year’s Westminster show will feature 2,845 dogs, as well as welcome mixed-breed competitors for the first time, and will be held at Madison Square Garden (across from the hotel) and Piers 92/94 on Monday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
As one of the premier hotels for pets, visiting canines can enjoy culinary delights from the Doggie Delights menu created by Executive Chef Chris Scarpaci of the hotel’s Niles Restaurant & Bar. The menu includes flavor-filled Beef Tips ($10), Sliced Steak ($12) and Grilled Steak ($8).
The VIPaws Pet program, which is available year-round to dog lovers everywhere, includes:
- Use of an oversized pet bed from upscale pet retailer Jax & Bones (upon request)
- Pet food and water bowls
- Jax & Bones rope toys for both dogs and cats
- Convenient waste bag dispensers for leashes
- City Walks maps outlining perfect destinations for owners and pets to stroll
Additionally, when guests reserve Affinia Manhattan’s VIPaws Pet program, a $10 donation will be made to the Humane Society of New York. Rates at Affinia Manhattan start at $199 per night, double occupancy. There is a fee of $75 per pet. Book your reservation by calling 1-866-246-2203.
VIPaws Suite at Affinia Manhattan
As an official sponsor of the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, the pet-friendly hotel will be transforming one of it’s spacious indoor/outdoor terrace suites into a complimentary VIPaws Suite. The suite includes DogTread® Treadmills, chew toys from the upscale pet retailer Jax & Bones, energy bars for dogs from YaffBars (that both owners and pets can enjoy), and a contained, outdoor play area.
The VIPaws Suite will be open:
- Wednesday, February 5 from noon – 12:00a.m.
- Thursday, February 6 to Tuesday, February 11 from 5:00a.m. – midnight
- Wednesday, February 12 from 5:00a.m. – noon.
Wags & Wine Reception
Sunday, February 9, from 5:00p.m. – 6:00p.m.
Join Affinia Manhattan’s four-legged guests at the Wags & Wines reception. The reception will include play stations (desgned by Architecture for Dogs), YaffBars refreshments, and a selection of wines courtesy of NakedWines.com for the human counterparts. Guests will be able to see an extensive selection of protective outerwear that will be on display during the event from Spot the Dog. Guests will also be able to donate to Affinia Hotels’ charitable partner, the Humane Society of New York, an animal rights organization and no-kill advocate helping animals in need across New York.
