Keeping Your Pets Teeth Clean (Without the Hassle) #SmoochUrPooch

I try to be a good pet parent. I really do. There are a few things I don’t do on a regular basis, though, and one of those is brush my dogs teeth.

Let’s face it – my dogs not only outweigh me, they also outnumber me three to one.  Their teeth are a lot bigger than mine. They are superior in almost every way. Sticking my hand in their mouth to brush their teeth is not super appealing.

But dental care doesn’t have to be such a challenge. That’s why I rely on methods other than brushing- like water additives, gels and dental treats from TropiClean.

All TropiClean products are eco-friendly, all natural and made in the USA. They also have a lot of products to choose from so you can work around what your pets prefer. Some animals won’t let you come near their mouths (similar to me in a dentist chair). For the highly paranoid animals, we use the Tropiclean Pet Water Additive. It’s a safe, natural additive you squirt in your pal’s water bowl each morning. Since we use a filtered water system, we set the additive to pre-filtered water and make it available in a dish away from the fountain.  This helps if you have a lazy dog who doesn’t want to walk all the way over to the fountain. This product helps to remove plaque and tartar, eliminates harmful bacteria in the mouth, and gives your pup fresh breath.

Another great option is the TropiClean Fresh Breath Clean Teeth Gel Kit. It’s safe for both dogs and cats (just choose the species-appropriate version!). You simply squirt it along the gum line and let your pet’s natural mouth action move it around.

If you have a pet that is absolutely opposed to any type of cleaning, then you might want to trick them into it with the Tropiclean Pet LiquidFloss & TriFloss Ball. This is a rope toy that your dogs will adore. Use the TropiClean LiquidFloss with this toy and your pets won’t even know that they are pursuing dental excellence! The toy helps massage gums and floss teeth – all while removing tartar. It’s my pet’s favorite way to clean!

Dental health is very important in pets. Nearly 80% of dogs show signs of periodontal disease by the age of three. Over 70% of cats show signs of periodontal disease by the same age. Since all of my pets are at least three years of age, this is very concerning to me. Not concerning enough to stick my hand in their mouths, but still concerning – primarily because oral disease can result in serious health risks.

I want my pets to live a long time. I want your pets to live a long time, too. So please consider starting a dental maintenance program for your dogs and cats. Their lives depend on it.
