Why You May Need an Indoor Potty for Pets

Share

Recently, we were asked to take a look at the new Piddle Place. I was a bit reluctant at first, because I was hard pressed to find a time when it may be useful for our home. As it turns out, there are many times it would be useful – even though I am almost always here. Here are a few examples (boaters and travelers need to pay special attention!)

If you:

  • have a pet with health problems that make movement difficult
  • live in an apartment, on a boat, or in a motorhome
  • go boating with their pets
  • take vacations with their pets in motorhomes
  • work a lot and sometimes can’t make it home in time to let the dog out
  • have an elderly pet who struggles to make it out in time
  • live in an extreme climate
  • have a fall-out shelter or cellar that may one day require evacuation with pets (I’m being serious here)

And because there are so many reasons a dog or cat may need to occasionally (or always) “do their business” indoors, we decided to look at the Piddle Place Indoor Dog Toilet.

We often don’t think of the value that having an indoor bathroom might bring to our pets. Puppy pads often slip, are easily moved (and chewed) and more often than not, a dog will “miss” his mark. We know you hate cleaning up after pets as much as we do, so puppy pads are not always the answer.

Boats, RVs and Apartments

A PiddlePlace offers a comfortable, sanitary environment that allows your pet to take care of his business without having to go outside. This is particularly useful in regions with extreme weather, when it’s simply to cold or hot to go out every time. It’s also a fantastic way to keep pets safe on boats (and preserve your expensive poop deck for lounging rather than pooping). If you travel a lot, this is definitely a unit you’ll want to keep handy in your RV or motor-home when traveling with pets.

Mobility-Challenged Pets and People

Elderly pet owners have also found this to be a very helpful item to keep in the house. For the mobility-challenged,who may not be able to let their dogs out several times a day, the Piddle Place let’s the dog to choose when he wants to go. Whether your dog has hip problems like dysplasia that make movements difficult, or whether you personally have a health problem that may limit your ability to take your pet out, this is a solution you’re going to love.

Health Benefits For Dogs

It’s not good for a dog to hold his/her urine for long. Doing so can weaken the urinary tract and eventually cause damage to urinary health. This is very important for urinary tract health.  Holding urine too long while they wait patiently for you to arrive home is not only cruel, it’s bad for their health.

How it Works

Their patented Groove and Drainage system utilizes a porous turf mat (that looks and feels like real grass) to sit above the reservoir. When your pets urinate, the waste falls through the porous grass and into the drainage. Your pet’s paws never touch the waste, as it flows neatly into the drain and storage reservoir.

When your pet has done his business, you simply lift and pour into the toilet. No more scooping, draining, or cleaning. The valve on the spout is very easy to open, and water-tight when closed. This makes certain nothing is ever spilled while on the road, on the boat or in the home.

The Science Behind Piddle Place

There is a lot more to Piddle Place™ than just a place to pee. Their unique Bio-Enzyme Treatment doesn’t just cover up smells, it eliminates odor at the source. The Piddle Place 9 Week Bio + Spray degrades the organic compounds that cause odor, breaking them down to benign, odorless compounds such as carbon dioxide and water. It does this by utilizing biodegradable surfactants that bring enzymes to a neutral pH. Each treatment is combined with a special Deo-Essence® fragrance of Lemongrass eucalyptus – leaving everything smelling clean and fresh!

To set up the Piddle Place, simply open a packet of Bio+ concentrate, mix with a cup of water, shake, and pour into the base.  Replace the turf and your pet is good to “go”.  Once a day, or after use, spray the surface area with the BioEssence treatment to keep the Piddle Place fresh and odor free.

The Piddle Place is proudly constructed in the USA out of sturdy molded plastic.  While the unit can hold over 100 lbs, the length of the Piddle Place will decide which is right. If your dog is over 28 inches long, their hind end might hang over the Piddle Place and leave a mess. The Piddle Place measures 19″ x 30″ and is 1.5 inches in height. The Piddle Place will safely contain a gallon of pet waste, but we recommend draining the unit once a week for most dogs.

As you can see, there are many reasons why every person should have a Piddle Place available.
