Stella & Chewy’s Treats and Meals

Share

When I look at a pet food or pet treat label, I’m looking for less – not more. I want two, maybe three ingredients and the first should be a protein source (chicken, beef, duck, salmon, etc.). I haven’t found many places that meet this simple expectation, but Stella & Chewy’s is one of them.

Let’s talk first about the treats. They have a huge line of treats available, from their newest Surf & Turf to Carnivore Kisses. Each of them is adored by my pets. The other day, our Cog (cat who thinks she’s a dog) took it upon herself to climb onto the counter, tear open the packaging of the “Duck, Duck, Goose” meal patties and consume nearly half a bag of the food. (We’ve since discussed the potential problems if she continues with this type of behavior).

But, that’s how much my pack loves them.

And when I say this is a natural product, I’m very serious. Each treat and meal is made from wholesome ingredients from UISDA-inspected facilities. There are no added hormones or antibiotics and the proteins are raised naturally. There are no grains, fillers, preservatives, sugars, coloring or salt.

The meals and treats are prepared by using Hydrostatic High Pressure (HHP) – a technology that “puts the squeeze” on food pathogens without cooking out vital nutrients or changing the natural taste. It’s based on the discovery that bacteria cannot survive at pressures five times those found at the deepest sea level. To date, HHP is the only scientifically recognized pasteurization process that does not use heat or irradiation to accomplish this. That’s just one of the steps they use to protect pets from health problems.

They use their own dedicated manufacturing plant that is federally-inspected plant in Muskego, Wisconsin. Their suppliers and farmers provide Letters of Guaranty stating that their meats and produce are fresh and in full compliance with all federal regulations. Their equipment is cleaned and sanitized at the end of every day to make sure any contamination is avoided. They are in strict HACCP compliance and they use a series of devices that emit low levels of safe, pathogen-fighting gases such as ozone and hydrogen peroxide.

Every batch is tested before shipping. Samples are sent to an independent laboratory to be tested for E. coli O157:H7 and Salmonella.

So if you’re looking for a raw food diet, or just a healthy snack for your pets, this is one I would seriously consider. But, if you’re not ready for a fulltime “raw” diet, consider offering these to your pets as healthy snacks.  With their amazing new flavors, we know your pets will love it – and it’s a great option for your pets when they want some of that holiday candy (trust me, they will like these products a lot more!).
