Packaging Rx for Pets

Medicating a pet is a big responsibility. If it’s a task that is shared by the entire family, there is a new way to package the medication.

Before we lost Cheiss, we were beginning to medicate him more often. That means combinations of pills at various times each day and if for some reason I weren’t around, it would fall to my husband. Being the control freak I am, I was bound to package them in an easily administered way.

The Pill Suite fit this need. It’s ideal for labeling and repackaging medication. While I can’t recommend this for everyday use (it’s generally best to leave your medication in original packaging), it’s ideal if you have to leave town, take your dogs to a boarding facility, or even dropping dogs off at daycare. The Pill Suite lets you sort, seal, and separate prescription medication and vitamins into simple-to-take doses.

This travel pill organizer dispenses your medications into convenient baggies and the sealer easily closes them up to toss in a drawer, your purse, or anywhere else. No more carrying around bulky pill containers.

It’s a bit bulky to use at first and takes some practice. But, once you get the hang of it, this is a simple way to travel with medication. Pill suite retails at $34.95, and bag refills are very affordable.

If you’re headed out of town and leaving your pets with a sitter, or taking them to a boarding facility, I recommend this system. It’s way too easy to mix up medication when more than one person is involved. But, if each packet contains the medication for the pet and is clearly labeled with the time, date, and name of pet, the chances of accidental overdose (or missing a dose) is reduced.
