World Animal Day

World Animal Day falls on October 4th of every year. It is a day when you can do your part for the animals – all animals. It’s a day to show our support for the world’s wildlife (both wild and domestic) and demonstrate how important the world and all of its animals are too us.

Throughout history, we have used social movements to change the world. This is more important than ever. Millions of species are at risk for extinction, and this event is stoppable.

Encourage your local government to take action on protecting the species at risk, and to pass laws that support our wildlife, not contribute to its decimation.

If you’re not sure who represents you, visit the US House of Representatives and find out with their easy-to-use zip code finder.

By acting locally and putting pressure on our national government, we can make a difference on a global level. This is a list of current critically endangered, near threatened, and endangered animals.

On a local level, much of the funding for local animal shelters have been reduced or eliminated. The shelters are full, and we all need to take a moment to act.

The Animals’ Saviour by Jim Willis

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter …
The cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.
And I was angry.
“God,” I said, “this is terrible! Why don’t you do something?”
God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly.
“I have done something,” He replied.
“I created You.”
