Litterbox Zaps Bacteria, Germs and Odor

There is finally a new product on the way to market that is truly revolutionary. I think when you see what this product does, you’ll be as excited as I am to have one in your home.

For years, litterboxes have been the bane of a cat owner’s existence. Destroying litterbox odors, eliminating eggs from worms and parasites, and eliminating germs and bacteria are the critical areas that technology has not been able to improve on.

Until now. Inventor and long-time cat-owner Stewart Lovenvirth, has developed a revolutionary cat litter box, titled LitterZap, which has been proven to be safe, sanitary and disease-free. The model utilizes powerful bursts of UV-C light to eradicate bacteria lurking in and around your pets litter box. Here are the highlights:

  • Eliminates flea, tick and lice eggs.
  • Eliminates hookworm, roundworm and other creepy crawlies.
  • Eliminates germs, viruses, bacteria, parasites and reduces odor.
  • Increases life of litter by 25-30%.

We know how much dogs love to raid our kitty’s boxes. This specialized box will help stop this problem by eliminating odor, and reducing zoonotic disease and parasites.

Speaking of parasites, this light will destroy them. This includes lice, flea and tick larvae as well as other nasty creepy-crawlies, like roundworms, hookworms and more. If you have a problem with fleas or ticks, this is reason enough to invest in a box like this!

Every year, thousands of women give up their cats after learning they are pregnant due to the potential for picking up toxoplasmosis. This is a heartbreaking issue that may no longer be a problem thanks to studies showing that UV Light is effective against the protozoan. (Note: To my knowledge, the LitterZap itself has not yet been tested against toxoplasmosis; however, UV light has been shown to be effective against this protozoa in other research. See this study for a more detailed analysis).

“LitterZap keeps a cat’s bathroom disease-free and powder-room perfect,” said Stewart Lovenvirth, the Ft. Lauderdale-based inventor. “Emptying a contaminated litter box forces cat owners to come in contact with a host of bacteria, which could cause illness in humans. LitterZap eliminates this health risk by sanitizing the litter box and keeping a cat’s bathroom remarkably cleaner.”

LitterZap can extend litter life by 25-30%. Since the light works to control mold growth, you’ll save money, your litterbox will smell fresher, and your litter will last much longer.

With over 8 billion tons of contaminated waste being dumped into landfills annually, LitterZap offers a safer alternative that not only protects cats and their owners, but also preserves the environment.

Safety is a top priority and this appliance is equipped with several fail-safe motion and infrared detectors. Any safety zone breach will disable the box. In addition, LitterZap operates at a safe voltage of 12v DC (adapter included) or 4 AA batteries and has an inline fuse to protect the electronics against power surges.

LitterZap’s specially designed light bulb shield restricts the UV-C light to the subject area (litter box bed). This prevents any direct exposure to skin or eyes. A uniquely chambered pan and barrier-style litter guard rim are engineered to contain stray UV-C rays.

The product has undergone antimicrobial efficacy testing by Biological Consulting Services, an independent research firm in North Florida. The results confirmed the effectiveness of the product.

“The disinfectant efficacy was tested against a variety of animal and human pathogens that are transmissible through feces,” said George Lukasik, director of BCS. “According to observed results, the tested system demonstrated excellent antibacterial, ant-parasitic and antiviral efficacy.”

After years of painstaking, research, testing and development, LitterZap is ready to be brought to market. Since no other pet product manufacturer has ever utilized UV-C light technology for litter boxes, LitterZap in a class by itself.

The product is scheduled to debut in the fall of 2015.
