Take Better Pet Pics with Samsung Galaxy Note 7

The Samsung Note 7 made its debut this year at the a bargain, BlogHer Conferenceand we couldn’t be more excited for this phone! As you probably know, I’ve had the Note 5 for about a year and to say this phone is literally attached to my hip is the most accurate use of “literally” that I know.

There is a lot to love on this phablet phone (not the least of which is the curved design similar to the Samsung S6 Edge design). That is obviously the first big thing you’ll notice about this phone. But, here are a few other things that are new with the Note 7 (as compared to my Note5).

I’m going to get to a comparison of the Note 5 vs the Note 7 (yes, it skipped a generation because it’s so amazing), but first I want to discuss cell phone costs… Did you know that 50% of people overpay on their cell phone each month? I know – it’s crazy. So before we get too much further, check out Best Buy’s Comparison tool to find out how much you could save on a new phone.

My favorite feature is the camera. If you follow us on PetsWeekly on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter, you know we take a lot of photos and you probably already know how amazing the camera is on the Galaxy Note 5 (which is what nearly all of my photos are taken with). The Note 7 has a faster auto-focus and a lens that lets in 95% more light than the Note 5. In fact, it even takes great photos when you’re in the dark!

My current phone, the Note 5, features a 16-megapixel rear camera coupled with a 5-megapixel front snapper (both of which have an aperture of f/1.9). It features some great standard options like auto-focus, 8x digital optic zoom, and it can also handle 4K video recording.

The Note 7 features a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper, both of which have an aperture of f/1.7 (which means it lets in slightly more light than my Note 5). Like mine, it can also do 4K video recording and also includes phase detection autofocus and automatic HDR photos. The Note 7 lost a few megapixels, but gained better photos (especially in low-light situations.

Working with pets means you’re going to get wet at some point – especially if you’re working with dogs, horses, cats, or fish. The Galaxy Note7 is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance – that basically means it has the highest dust and water resistance. It’s dust-tight and long-term water immersion (which I’m not willing to test…)

The really big change in the Note7 is the retina scanner which is used to unlock your phone. I love this idea, but I’m not totally sure how well it will work. What I will say is that I absolutely LOVE the Note5 fingerprint scanner. It’s fast, it works every time, and it’s one of the best features (in my opinion) of the Note 5

Go beyond the fingerprint. With a new iris scanner, your documents, banking and contacts are protected.

The fingerprint scanner works so well that it’s the first one I’ve used full-time and trusted 100%. For tips on setting it up so you never get locked out (use this video – you’ll thank me later).

[heading style=”1″ color=”#c96a26″ style_color=”#c96a26″]The S-Pen Changes[/heading]

The second thing you’ll notice (if you’re not already a Note user) is that it already comes with accessories – the S Pen is an amazing piece of technology that stores away in the phone for easy grab and go use. I use my S Pen for quick notes, but others use it to draw, write, animate or record images.

The S-Pen makes my phone a true work phone.

The one thing I don’t like about my S-pen is worrying about it getting stuck in my phone if I insert it backwards. The new Note 7 S-pen has been redesigned so you never have to worry about which way you store it away. Hooray!

[heading style=”1″ color=”#c96a26″ style_color=”#c96a26″]Expandable Storage[/heading]

I rate storage in “how many animal photos will it hold”. Well, the answer is “a lot”. On the Note 5, I upgraded to 64GB (from 32GB) of memory and I auto upload my gazillion photos to Google Drive so I never have to worry about room. This is all done automatically, because Samsung rocks.

But, the Note 7 lets you expand your storage up to an additional 256GB with a microSD card in addition to being able to handle automatic backups while it’s charging. You probably won’t need it though as it comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB Storage.

[note style=”5″ type=”success” icon=”yes”]If you’re really looking for a bargain, click here to “expand your galaxy for free” – you’ll receive a free Fear Fit2 or 256GB memory card when you purchase and activate the Galaxy Note7, and you can pick up an extra $20 in rewards with your first Samsung Pay purchase.[/note]

If you’ve been on the hunt for a new phone, I can’t recommend the Samsung Galaxy Note7 enough!
