If you’re seeking out a replacement for dog bones and rawhide (and I hope you are), these are some new natural treats on the market that make more sense.
Remember that no chew is indestructible. Chews (especially new ones) should only be fed while you’re watching your pups.
With that word of warning, here are some of the most fun new natural chews we’ve seen for dogs!
Coco Chew Dog Chews
CocoChew Dog Chews are something your dogs will want to get their paws on. These tasty chews are made from the husk of coconuts. These chews are not only fun, they are great for helping your pet brush their teeth after a meal.
The design was inspired by observing dogs chew and play with coconuts on the beaches of Hawaii.
Our large staffies needed to be watched as they chewed, because they both really got into this delicious toy! It won’t hurt them if they do eat a bit, but no one needs that much coconut husk in their belly.
This is a great chew for dogs and will help keep their teeth healthy with it’s natural flossing action! The ones we tried were the Large CocoBall (retails at $15.99) and the Classic (also retails at $15.99). Check them out!
Loving Pets Pure Buffalo Bones
Brock has sensitivities to nearly everything, which is why my dogs are all fed The Honest Kitchen. It’s also why we’re very cautious about what we give to them for supplemental chews and treats.
That’s why we like the Loving Pets line of chews and treats.
The buffalo bones are especially great because they give my dogs some chewing action without worry about chipping the bones (or their pretty teeth).
Pure Buffalo is available in many sizes and types (ranging from femur knuckles and lung steaks to horn cores and backstrap tendons). I’m pretty sure you’re going to find something your dogs love over there.
The Honest Kitchen Joyful Jerky
I know we have a few traditionalists here, and I just want to tell you if you’re going to stick with chicken breasts, stay with The Honest Kitchen.
Joyful Jerky is made from cage-free, antibiotic-free chicken. There are no fillers, by-products, or sugars.
Since most of the US is getting their chicken from China now, this is the only source we 100% trust to care for our pets.
Gibson’s Prairie Bacon with Bison Jerky Dog Treats
They aren’t truly a chew, but chewy enough for our pups! Check out these natural, grain-free USA jerky treats. They are made from human-grade ingredients and are fun treats for dogs.
There are a few more ingredients than others, but they’re all-natural and fine for your pets in moderation.
Here is the ingredients list: Turkey, Chicken, Bison, Vegetable Glycerin, Black Bean Flour, Sea Salt, Lentil Flour, Vinegar, Duck, Beef, Pork, Celery Powder, Citrus Fiber, Fruit and Vegetable Juice (color), Rosemary Extract
Natural Cravings Monster Bully Sticks
These USA-sourced Monster Bully Sticks are great for big dogs who love to chew! They’re odor-free, which means you won’t have to smell that bully stick smell all day long.
These chews are sourced from American beef and are 100% natural. No chemicals, no additives and no preservatives. Also, no stinky juice.
Clear Conscience Pet Trachey Chewz
This delicious chew from Clear Conscience Pet is filled with omegas and phytonutrients, and supplemented with glucosamine, chondroitin and collagen.
These chews are crafted from roasted lamb trachea and infused with a dry rub of flax, carrots, tomato and spinach.
What’s not to love?
Redbarn Tripe Twists
Tripe twists are perfect for dogs who enjoy savory chews – this is a highly palatable treat that doesn’t contain grain, gluten, additives, preservatives, hormones, or chemicals. Our dogs haven’t yet tried this single-ingredient beef tripe chew, but I think they would love it! Sourced from free-range cattle.
Herders Choice Chews
Mongolian Chews – need I say more? This company has some fantastic products. Herders Choice Chews are all-natural, minimally-processed products that are made in their own Mongolian facilities.
Here you can find everything from sheep legs (it’s a bit gross, even for me, but dogs love these) to sheep shanks (for the big chewers in your life).
Their products are manufactured without chemicals – instead they use a natural lactic acid process based on the ancient traditions of Mongolian yak herders. It’s healthier for your pets and better for your home.
Nature Gnaws Beef Tendons
Nature Gnaws has a lot of new products and while this isn’t new, it’s one we like. These tendons are sourced from grass-fed, free-range cattle. The oven baking helps hold in the flavor.
Nature Gnaws manufacture in a USDA-approved facility.
