Pumpkin is good for both cats and dogs. It is filled with healthy vitamins and minerals, and it acts as a binding agent for pets, so if your pet has loose stools, you can add a little freshly pureed pumpkin in their diet. You can also use it to decrease constipation – because pumpkin is just that perfect of a food!
Here’s how you can preparing pumpkin puree for pets. You can also used canned pumpkin, but we always prefer the real stuff (and pumpkin puree freezes incredibly well if you put it into plastic bags)!

Pumpkin Peanut Butter Wafers Dog Treats
[heading style=”fancy” color=”#006699″ style_color=”#006699″]Ingredients:[/heading]15 oz. can pureed pure pumpkin (not filling). If you choose to use canned pumpkin, be sure you’re picking up the organic type to avoid added sugars and salts. (We love the Organic Tummy Yum Yum or the Fruitables Pumpkin Dog Digestive Supplement, which is fortified with vitamins, fiber and extra ginger for extra flavor and to soothe upset stomachs.
3/4 C uncooked cream of wheat (If wheat sensitive, use rice cereal instead)
1/2 C dry powdered milk
1/4 C creamy peanut butter

- Mix all ingredients together. Drop small spoonfuls onto a lightly greased cookie sheet
- Bake at 300 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

Depending on the size, this recipe will make around 20 treats.
