Nutrisca from Dogswell

Generally, I make it a point to avoid writing reviews on pet food. There are simply too many types in the world and many that are good. Every animal is different and for me to say that one is better than another is like telling you that peas are better than carrots.

But, every once in awhile, I come across a brand that I think warrants some attention. NUTRISCA™ from Dogswell is one of these brands. So, what makes this brand better than others? To begin with, my dog has refused to eat anything else since we gave him a bowl of NUTRISCA™ a few weeks ago. This isn’t normally something I base an entire review on, but Cheiss is such a selective eater that I have to mention it.

[note style=”5″ icon=”yes”]We received product samples from Nutrisca, however our opinions are our own and we are under no obligation to create a positive review or article. We do our best to use affiliate links when possible.[/note]

The parts that I’m interested in also pass muster.

For example, this is a grain-free diet. Completely grain free – which is important to me. Dogs are omnivores and while a raw diet is important, there are some who don’t feel comfortable with that type of diet. For those who prefer an easier (and safer) method of feeding, keep in mind that dogs can’t process grains the way we do. So grain-free becomes very important.  NUTRISCA™ dry dog food is one of the only grain-free formulas that doesn’t use potato or tapioca as a binding agent, both of which are very high on the Glycemic Index. Instead peas and chickpeas are used, which are great sources of protein and fiber, and highly palatable.

It’s made in the USA with ingredients that are grown in the US, and Dogswell follows the rigid testing requirements of the AAFCO. NUTRISCA is offered in a Chicken and Chickpea Recipe, and a Lamb and Chickpea Recipe, and is approved for all life stages. That means, you can feed it to your puppy, your adult dog, and your senior dog – you don’t have to worry about “formulas” for age group.

Another interesting benefit is that you can move back and forth between the lamb and chicken flavors without worries. This is a good thing as pets can develop allergies if fed only one type of protein their whole lives.

And lucky you, it’s available for purchase today on their website. It will be in stores come October, and that’s a good thing, because we’re almost out again! Give it a try. I think you’ll be very pleased with the results and I’m confident your pets will thank you…
