"Doga" at the Biltmore - PetsWeekly.com

“Doga” at the Biltmore

On May 16, 2011, you’re invited to join dog lovers at the Arizona Biltmore and practice some fun “Doga” moves like the “downward facing dog, the lotus and the cobra”. Now, I’m not a yoga expert by any stretch of the imagination, and the idea of taking a class that requires physical exertion is frankly terrifying. But, this experience is specifically designed for people like me. It’s a social experience for you and your pet, not a workout that will leave you exhausted. In fact, both dogs and their people will leave the class feeling calm, relaxed, and looking forward to the next one.

“Doga” is free and it takes place every third Tuesday of the month at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Course Pavilion. This month’s class will occur this Tuesday, May 17. Yappy Hour begins on the patio at 5:30 with light entrees, drinks and a special dog menu. The class officially begins at 7:00 pm and will last approximately 30 minutes, but everyone usually hangs around for some shop talk afterwards. Here’s the official schedule:

There’s a special ‘Yappy hour” menu for both humans and their canine companions that includes appetizers like Zen Beef and Rice ($3.50), Warrior Chicken and Potatoes ($3.00), and Downward Facing Dog Biscuits ($0.50)

The Adobe Restaurant is not only dog-friendly, they are one of the only restaurants in Arizona to hold a special pet permit so furry family members can dine on the patio with owners.

The goals behind Doga is to create a more relaxed dog, have an opportunity to bond with other animal lovers, and create a social platform that’s in person rather than online. If that’s not enough reason to get you out of the house, their recent selection of golf treats may be.

Biltmore Golf Club has announced summer specials to keep greens fees down as temperatures rise with their annual “Summer Pass,” a discount program that allows for golf play at both the Biltmore and its sister club, the Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park. Both golf properties are owned by JDM Partners.

JDM’s Summer Pass provides for access to their five courses throughout the summer, or May through September. For $299, players can enjoy unlimited golf at the legendary Arizona Biltmore as well as the historic Wigwam Resort. Each of these golf clubs boast the best of what Arizona golf has to offer, including challenging layouts, stunning scenery and a variety of food and beverage options such as The Adobe Restaurant at the Biltmore and Red Allen’s at the Wigwam.

Beginning May 16, Biltmore greens fees will also drop nearly 50 percent with a summer-long online special of $45 plus tax per round on either of the club’s two iconic courses: The Adobe and The Links.

With the purchase of a 2011 Summer Golf Pass, members can also enjoy specials such as:

Built as one of Phoenix’s first resorts in 1929, the Arizona Biltmore was constructed in grand form and remains a treasured and iconic Phoenix landmark today.

Summer Specials:
Online Special beginning May 16: $45 plus tax per round
Unlimited “Summer Pass” at the Wigwam & Biltmore: $299, $25 cart fee

*Between 4 and 7pm, must reserve in advance.
