We have pets and you live in the desert, there is really no escaping fur and dust. Even if we clean every day (and who’s got time for that nonsense?), we’re still going to have fur and dust floating around in the house.

I don’t clean every day, but I do clean every few days or this place would be out of control. That’s why I want technology to be as effective as possible. So today, we’re taking a look at the "sharpest tools in the cleaning shed" - items that will make your life a lot easier and help keep your home fur-free.

Shark® Steam Pocket Mop ($49.99 on Amazon)

This is one of the best purchases I made in 2017 and I am still recommending it today. The Shark® Steam Mop effortlessly cleans cleans tile, linoleum and any other hard floor by using the power of steam. It cuts through grease and grime while eliminating unwanted film and residue. I absolutely love this device and would recommend it 100 times over.

I also love that it's environmentally-friendly. Just fill with water, it needs no other cleaning (although I do love to add a few drops of Essential Oils to keep the house smelling clean and fresh). The pads that fit on the bottom of the device can just be tossed in the washer with all your dog beds and cat blankets. There are no allergens or strong smells released into the air, so you don’t have to worry about your family.

The power of steam as a sanitizer is pretty amazing - check out these studies from the EPA on green cleaning (note - that lnk will open as a .pdf).

2. The Pet Wisp $39.95 on Amazon

For the “sweeping challenged” (like me), I’m proud to present the PetWISP. I really love this broom. I honestly can’t tell you why this is so much easier to use than a regular broom, but the results speak for themselves.

Even our pet-sitter made a note of it in her log while we were out of town: “I really love your new broom - its excellent for picking up cat hair and sweeping litter from the mats.”

‘Nuff said…

3. SpotClean Pro™ Portable Carpet Cleaner $129.00 on Amazon

I hate carpet, but right now, we’re stuck with it. The SpotClean makes life incredibly easy with an easy way to pick up messes on carpet, couches, or just about any other covered surface. I love that it has a long cord (22 ft) and that the flex hose makes it easy to reach any area. It’s ideal for cleaning up cat vomit from the tall climbing post or stains from your dog’s ability to reach the counter top and eating a dozen chocolate chip cookies. If you have pets, you need one of these in your home.

4. Eureka Upright Ultimate Pet Vacuum $129.00 on Amazon

Ultimate Clean Pet Upright Vacuum by Eureka is a brand new solution to the problem and puts the question of how to clean up pet hair in the past.

The Ultimate Clean Pet Upright Vacuum is exclusively available at Walmart and Walmart.com and retails for $179. Plus, it’s available just in time for holiday cleaning preparations, to help your readers make their holiday cleaning quick and easy.

The vacuum has a 12-amp motor, which means it’s ideal for picking up fur, dirt, pine needles and more.

5. Bissell BarkBath Portable Dog Bath System $99.99 on Amazon

The Bissell BarkBath is a portable cleaning system that you can use to wash your dog in any room of your home. What I love most is that it can cleans a 80lb+ dog with less than 48 oz of water. Regular bathing in a tub can use up to 19 gallons of water!

It's rather expensive, and you're somewhat limited in the shampoo you can use with it, but if you have a dog who loves to get into every mud-hole he comes across, it's a great way to keep your dogs and your home clean without wrestling your pup into a tub.

Beyond conserving water, you’ll find that it’s incredibly effective. It reaches way down deep to the skin of your pet and provides a really nice massage while it’s cleaning. I had my doubts about this gadget when we first saw it, but we really love what it’s capable of doing and the ease with which we can keep our pets clean.
