Many will be spending Valentine's Day with their pets, which in our book is the best place to be! But, they don't make many cards for distribution by pets, so we wanted to take care of that for you this year.

If your dogs and cats could talk, we think this is what they would say to you - their most favorite pet people - on this special day...

We hope you'll share with your friends who are also spending Valentine's Day with their pets.

Life is better with pets. It may seem like an obvious statement, considering that pets can lower your blood pressure, increase literacy rates in children, and have thousands of other reciprocal effects. But, sometimes we need reminding.

Purina® hosted the one-day “Better with Pets” summit in New York city this year. While the event is now in its 3rd year, this was my first year in attendance, and I’m very excited I was able to attend. I want to summarize some of the key points we covered. Next week, we'll be diving into some of these complex and inspiring topics.

The event was hosted by Emmy-nominated comedian and writer, Josh Gondelman, and featured two keynote speakers and three guest panels that focused on three very important topics:

wolf moonJanuary 26, 2013 marks the night of the "Wolf Moon" and it will be the biggest and brightest of 2013, sure to impress all of its viewers.

This year, Mars supersizes the view making the moon appear 30% brighter and over 14% larger than other moons. Once ever 29.5 days, the moon makes a trip around Earth. But, its orbit is not a perfect circle, but more "elliptical".  According to NASA, "It will appear about 14 percent bigger in our sky and 30 percent brighter than some other full moons during 2009."

We want our Eastern Pack and Pride members to know we’re thinking of them during this tragedy. While we mostly feel helpless over here in the States, there are many things we can do to help:

  • That old cell phone you left in a drawer when you upgraded to the "next best thing" could become a life line for a volunteer pulling a survivor from rubble.
  • If you're physically challenged, help out online with some of the networks seeking to find loved ones and pets that were lost in the chaos.
  • Fostering an animal here in the States could save the life of an animal overseas. Volunteer to help train an animal for Search and Rescue, or to be an Assistance dog.
