Is it Too Hot For Spot? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Pack Leader

It’s summertime here in the den of the pack leader. With desert temperatures soaring well into the hundreds, it’s become our very important mission to educate others on the dangers of keeping pets in hot cars and walking them over hot pavement.

This time of year, the streets are like liquid hot magma and we hate to see any animal burn their paws. But, it happens every day. Whether it’s walking out in the late afternoon to grab the mail, or heading across pavement into the store, it’s too hot for Spot to be walking around out there!

More importantly, it’s FAR too hot to leave a pet in a car for any length of time. This is a given in the deserts of the Southwest, but in the Pacific Northwest or Eastern area of our great country, it may not be so obvious. That’s where this week’s featured product, Too Hot for Spot? Pet Thermometer , comes into play.

ScooPup Pocket Makes Waste Cleanup Easy PDF Print E-mail

ScooPup PocketDog waste isn’t really a topic that we enjoy talking about. But, with over 77.5 million dogs in the USA alone, it has certainly earned its place as a topic. That said, our job here at PetsWeekly is to show you all the latest and greatest innovations in pet products and while this week’s product, The ScooPup Pocket, isn’t a technological wonder, it’s certainly a handy way to clean up pet waste.

Let’s face it - everyone loves to take their pets out for walks, but not everyone loves to clean up the dog waste left behind. The ScooPup Pocket makes cleaning up pet waste very convenient, easy, and discreet.

The pocket hooks on to a leash or belt loop very easily. Inside a pocket, the bags (which can be replaced with regular grocery bags) are handy to reach. Simply put the bag around the outside of the bag, pick up the waste (your hand is now protected by a nylon bag as well as a plastic bag) and withdraw your hand.

Sleepypod Air PDF Print E-mail

sleepypod airAs most of you know, I’ve always been a fan of Sleepypod’s products. They do one thing and they do it well. Make perfect pet beds. Our first review was on the SleepyPod, and now they have the Sleepypod Air.

This carrier is more than your average carrier.  It’s something that will revolutionize in-cabin pet travel. The Air adapts to your situation. It can be strapped to a pullman, stored under the seat, safely strapped into a seatbelt, or just carried. On top of that, it folds completely flat with just a flick of the wrist so when you’re not using it, it’s out of sight.

Doggy Baggage PDF Print E-mail

If you’re looking for a way to carry all the accoutrements you need when going out and about with your canine friend easily and attractively—you have to check out the line of bags from Doggy Baggage.  Featured in PetsWeekly's Holiday Showcase in November 2010 newsletter (if you missed it, you can subscribe here), these bags are sturdy, roomy and extremely cute.

The bag that I got my hands on is the large tote in natural and cranberry with the “Paws&Bones” pattern.  I fell in love immediately - at a cost of only $49.95, how could you not love it immediately?  Besides how adorable the bag looks, and how affordable it is, it has plenty of room (and pockets) on the inside (18”W x 12”H x 6”D) to hold food, water, dishes, your own personal items (for those days when it would be easier just to have everything in one bag), as well as any other larger items you might want to bring along.

The Buddy Bowl PDF Print E-mail
Written by Alpha Dog

Have you ever had a dog who thought their water dish was a toy?  No matter what you seemed to try, no matter what bowl you used, no matter how much you Velcroed it to the floor, they still managed to tip it over, spilling the water all over the place.  Maybe you’ve even tried some other “spill-proof” bowl, only to end up with the same results as before—you mopping up water again.

You need to try the Buddy Bowl.  I personally performed extensive testing on the Buddy Bowl to see for myself if the “spill-proof” claims were true.  I shook and dropped it every which way I could think of, and it never spilled more than a tiny splash or broke open.  The splash only happened when I tipped the Buddy Bowl completely upside down in a rapid motion, and I only used half of a paper towel to clean it up—no mopping!
