I recently discovered that my coyote hates baths.  But I also found a new product that makes him smell great without my having to lose an arm in the process.

Allow me to introduce Happy Tails Spa Grooming Products!  This group really has it all together.  They have spent the last two years producing, manufacturing, packaging and developing some of the finest grooming products that my pets and I have ever had the pleasure of using.

One thing that I’ve noticed in the last nine months of writing this column is that the products I like the most are the exact same products the cats most dislike.  You have to wonder about that.  I mean – are we really that different, cats and humans?  What is it that makes us love the things that our felines despise?  What inert function of the brain controls that wild side of us that once would have once had us pouncing on the very things our feline friends find so fascinating? It’s those kinds of questions that keep me up at night, and probably the same reason I spend my days at home writing a column about cat products instead of sitting in an office with the mass of society...

Of all the "cat problems" we get emails about, spraying is the number one topic among concerned pet owners. And it should be. Spraying can be more than just a behavior problem, it can signify that a cat has serious health problems. Probably one of the most important items there is to a cat caretaker is the almighty litter box. Choose one too small, and you have unhappy felines who will take out their displeasure on your favorite houseplant. Choose one too big, and you have more than one feline fighting for territory.

Choose a non-clumping litter and forget (just once!) to change it, and our finicky felines will refuse to use it, or worse, you will face the unpleasant fate of living at that infamous “cat house” in the neighborhood – you know, the one the neighbors always talk about whenever they amble by; crossing the street and mumbling under their breath. Choose a clumping litter and you are faced with the possibility of your favorite felines contracting upper respiratory infections from the fine dust that drifts upwards into even your own nostrils, despite the mask you wear when cleaning.

These days, my most exciting event is the UPS truck showing up at the house.  So you can imagine how happy I was when it showed up with this week’s little gem. I was so excited, in fact that had I been a dog, my tail would have been wagging, I would have been yipping happily, and jumping circles.  But, since I’m a human, I’m a little more controlled in my reaction, so I just jumped up and down.
