June is #AdoptAShelterCatMonth and that means it's time to join in the festivities and celebrate all thing cat! We really hope you're planning to go to your local shelter and adopt one of the millions of cats and kittens in need this month.

You do know that next month starts the Fireworks, Thunderstorms & Monsoon Season - and that means more animals than ever will be showing up at rescues around the world. It's more important than ever that you help empty the shelters before that happens.

Of course, the number one thing you can do in June is adopt a shelter cat . Why not? After all, they make the absolute best cats! We prefer black cats (because they are so incredible loving and the are always the last to be adopted). But, even if you're not ready to add a new cat to your life, there are many other ways to help.

Kitten Rescued from Drainpipe

Diners at Martha’s Kitchen in Moreno Valley, California, were distraught to hear what they believed to be a kitten crying from a drainpipe in front of the restaurant. Restaurant staff immediately called animal services. Unfortunately, Animal services didn’t have the tools to help this poor kitty, so they reached out to AAP Home Services, who immediately dispatched three of their top professionals.

How Tabby Cats Got Their Forehead "M"

Tabby cats have a rather unique history. If you have seen a tabby cat, you've probably noticed the distinguished looking “M” pattern on their forehead. Due to this marking, most have enjoyed special privilege over the years as being favored by  religious leaders.

While there are dozens of legends about how Tabby Cats received this special marking, today we're exploring those based on Christian and Muslim faiths.

There are many beliefs about how this cat received their marking that span multiple religions and mythos, but those of the Muslim faith seem to be the most committed to their feline friends.

When the cats came to me and asked to help write a poem for their dad, I was skeptical. The triplets are well known for their pranks, and I thought right away that the only truly heartfelt poem would be from The Cog.

But, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I'm glad I did. I think this poem turned out quite well, considering we had so many contributors!

So this is for my husband, the best cat dad (and husband) in the world! He makes every day special - for me and the animals!
